The Knesset rejected a bill proposed by Member of Knesset Amir Peretz (Labor) on Wednesday which called to raise the minimum wage to NIS 4,600. The bill was defeated by a 59- 39 vote.

Meanwhile, it was reported that the salaries of parliamentarians and ministers are expected to increase by thousands of shekels in 2010.
