Shas MK's are refusing to support the limited civil marriage law after Sephardic Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar protested the separation of that law from the more comprehensive law of conversion.

In an opinion published today by Rabbi Amar today he stated, said that "the civil marriage law should be opposed with all our resolve until it is passed together with the law of conversion."
