Residents of Ateret and neighboring Samarian Jewish communities have begun an email campaign to express their fear about the Palestinian Authority's establishment of the city of Rawabi only hundreds of meters away. The city is planned for 25,000 to 40,000 residents, and the residents of the nearby Jewish communities have not received a response to their questions about the security and environmental aspects of the city being populated.
Motti Houminer told Arutz Sheva's Hebrew journal that he has written to members of Knesset telling them that it's important that they come to see what's going on. As an example, Wadi Haramia is already full of sewage that is seeping into the groundwater and the city is not even populated. He also expressed concern that Ateret residents will have to hide behind their walls if residents of Rawabi decide to shoot at them the same way that residents of Al-Bira began to shoot at Psagot.
