With less than three quarters of the Knesset present, the government easily survived two motions of no confidence on Monday.

A motion by the Kadima party, criticizing the government for encouraging alcohol consumption through lowering taxes, received 33 votes, compared with 55 votes against it.

A motion by the predominantly Arab parties, which cited social and economic gaps in Israeli society, got only 29 "yes" votes, as opposed to 57 "no" votes.
