Eighty-one immigrants of the Falashmura community arrived Tuesday morning on Ethiopian Airlines Flight 404. It was the first such flight since they were suspended by the government in August 2008. Another 63 olim are scheduled to arrive on Wednesday.
They are the first of more than 600 expected in the coming months, following a check by Interior Ministry and Jewish Agency workers in Ethiopia of their eligibility to come to Israel. Thousands more are expected by the end of the year. More than 8,000 members of the community are waiting for a decision on bringing them to Israel.
