Public Security Minister Yitzchak Aharonovich on Tuesday morning accompanied Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on a tour of Israel Police headquarters. Aharonovich asked Netanyahu to help improve the public image of police. "We must improve the image of the police department in Israel, stressing its successes and accomplishments," Aharonovich said.

Among the steps Aharonovich said he is taking to make over the department's image is the establishment of community patrols, which will increase the presence of police in communities around the country and foster a feeling of personal security among residents, with officers able to pay more attention to local crime and quality of life issues, Aharonovich said.
