The ministerial committee on legislation approved a proposal on Sunday to establish a mechanism for tracking girls who are freed from duty in the Israel Defense Forces based on a declaration of a religious lifestyle. The proposal is the result of a growing number of girls whose declaration's proved to be false.

Deputy Health Minister Ya'akov Litzman of the hareidi-religious United Torah Judaism party said that if the proposal is approved, it will cause a coalition crisis.

Education Minister Gidon Sa'ar of the Likud party responded, "We too have matters of principle, such as service in the IDF."
