Police officers from the Lebanese Border unit of the Galilee region seized 15 kilograms/33 pounds of a substance believed to be heroine as it was brought into Israel from the other side of the border in the Metullah area Thursday evening. A 23-year-old from the Israeli-Arab village of Yarcha, who was holding the shipment, was arrested, along with two other residents of Yarcha in their 20s. The three will be brought before a court on Friday for extension of their remand.
Northern region commander Shimon Koren said, "Today's seizure is a heavy blow to dealers in the country and prevented the distribution of large amounts of drugs across the country."
