Chairman Ya'akov Katz of the National Union party said on Thursday that he would work immediately to enact legislation to prevent the High Court of Justice from invalidating a law passed by the Knesset. He said he was sure that every member of Knesset will sign on the bill.
Speaking after a nine-judge panel of the court ruled against the "private prisons" law, Ketzaleh said, "It cannot be that a law that was prepared by publicly-elected officials, with legal advice, [and] passed all the required readings and discussions of the committee was invalidated immediately by a legal group - as important as it may be - that was not elected by the people."
