The Hizbullah-backed al-Manar satellite network is leading a campaign against the inclusion of the Anne Frank Diary in the English curriculum in Lebanese schools, according to translations provided by Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI). The diary of the teenager, a victim of the Holocaust, is part of eighth-grade studies.

A reporter for al-Manar noted on the program that one chapter is illustrated with a Star of David and that “even worse than this is the dramatic way in which this diary is emotionally recounted.” Naim Kalaani, chairman of the Authority for Banning Zionist Products, said on the program, "Such a book is definitely in violation of the penal code. This is clearly a violation, and they must be prosecuted.”
