Member of Knesset Michael Eitan (Likud) has welcomed Monday evening's delay in a vote on final readings of a bill to establish a biometric data base for identifying Israelis.
The Minister for Improving Government Services said he hoped the delay would be used for a new look at the proposal, adding, "This shows that public opinion does have influence and I hope this delay will allow Israeli citizens to benefit from smart identity cards and passports without the establishment of a biometric data base."
