(IsraelNN.com) Knesset Member Ayoub Kara said Sunday that Israel has "no option but to return Brigadier General Amad Faras to active duty." Faras resigned last year over ethical issues related to a driving offense in his family. Some feel his fall was related to his role in the 2005 uprooting of Jews from Gaza and four communities in northern Samaria.

Kara, Deputy Minister for Development of the Galilee and the Negev, said during a tour in the Bedouin community that Defense Minister Ehud Barak's lack of involvement in the case is hurting the motivation of Druze and Circassian youth to serve in the Israel Defense Forces. He warned that if Barak did not get involved, there was concern that enlistment from these communities would go down. He called Faras "a valued figure and model to be followed among Druze youth."
