The Israeli Women's Lobby demanded on Sunday that the National Insurance Institute (Bituach Leumi) correct its recent report on poverty to account for gender.
In a letter sent by the lobby's legal department to Social Welfare Minister Yitzchak Herzog, legal department manager, Attorney Shirley Shlomiuk-Babai wrote that the publication of the report without a breakdown by gender was illegal. The letter also said the lack of gender-specific statistics prevents improvement of conditions for women.
