Speaking to Army Radio, former IDF Chief of Staff and current Kadima MK, Shaul Mofaz, believes that meaningful sanctions would be imposed on Iran only in 2010, but that it would be with Russian and Chinese support. "The exposure of Iran's secret plant at Qom was intended to speed up sanctions," he said.
Mofaz also called International Atomic Energy Agency chief Mohamed ElBaradei an ostrich with his head stuck in the sand and said Iran's plan to open its secret plant to scrutiny was just part of its effort to buy more time in negotiations over its nuclear program.
