Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has challenged United States President Barack Obama to a public debate, according to Iranian media. Ahmadinejad called on Obama to debate him in the United Nations building in New York City, and suggested that the debate be broadcast live worldwide.
Ahmadinejad made a similar proposal in May, at which time he called on Obama to debate if he won the Iranian presidential elections in June. Ahmadinejad has since claimed victory in the elections, although the official results are contested by reformist candidate Mir Hossein Moussavi and his supporters.
