Bahraini officials visited Israel in an official capacity for the first time on Friday, according to the Reuters news agency. The officials reportedly visited Israel in order to collect five citizens of Bahrain who were detained after illegally entering Israeli sovereign waters off the coast of Gaza.

The five were part of a larger group that attempted to enter Gaza as part of an ongoing set of “Free Gaza” protests, which call for the world to force Israel to give Hamas-led Gaza full control over sea travel off the Gaza coast. Several other group members remain in custody as well.
