The Supreme Court on Thursday sentenced Druze Yussef Shams of the Golan Heights to five years in prison for contact with a foreign agent and passing information to an enemy with the intent of harming Israel's security. The ruling is in line with an appeal by prosecutors of Shams's original sentence of four years.

The court rejected a similar appeal in the case of Ata Farhat, who was also convicted of making contact with a foreign agent in the same case, which involved contact with a senior Syrian intelligence officer.
