Based on new instructions from Supervisor of Banks Rony Hizkiyahu, Israel's banks will cooperate with the Israel Security Agency (Shin-Bet) on issues of information security. According to the directive reported by Globes, the Bank of Israel Banking Supervision Department will provide information about unusual incidents, breakdowns in their IT systems, and any other pertinent information.
Shared information will not include identifying details of customers or groups of customers, and the Security Agency will not disclose information to third parties. Israel's banks have been frequently targeted by hacking, phishing, impersonation, fraud, and identity theft in order to obtain passwords, account numbers, and credit details.
