Upgrading Israel’s relations with the European Union is dependent upon the peace process with the Palestinian Authority and implementing the two-state solution, said EU envoy to Israel Ramiro Cibrian-Uzal. The envoy’s comments come as Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman is in Prague for talks with the Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg whose country presides over the EU.
Yesterday, U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden said that Israel should back a two-state peace agreement and stop constructing new settlements in Yehuda and Shomron during a speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (Aipac). "You're not going to like my saying this, but do not build more settlements, dismantle existing outposts and allow Palestinian [Authority Arabs] freedom of movement and access to economic opportunity," he said in the speech.
