Salaries Down Jobs Up in Israeli Economy


The Central Bureau of Statistics reported Sunday that salaries were down in Israel in the third quarter of 2008. The average salary is down 1.2% as opposed to the second quarter of 2008. Hardest hit was the financial sector where salaries declined 8.2%.

On the other hand the number of jobs is up 0.3% in the third quarter as opposed to the second quarter. The largest rise is in the lodgings and food industry where the number of jobs is up 1.7%.
