Mumbai Victims Remembered at Applied Halacha Conference

The three-day International Conference on Applied Halacha (Jewish Law) opened at Jerusalem's Yeshurun Synagogue Sunday night with a prayer in memory of those who were murdered during the terrorist attack on Mumbai, India, as well as one for the recovery of those wounded in the ordeal.

Sixty rabbis from 25 countries are taking part in the conference, along with professional people, such as Supreme Court Justice Eliakim Rubenstein Minister Yitzchak Herzog and Jewish Agency head Zev Bielski. The conference will deal in Jewish law as it applies to medicine, the economy and the environment, among other things. Participants will also tour Gush Etzion.
