Olmert Promotes Jewish Faith to General Assembly

Outgoing Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told the General Assembly Sunday night that "the distancing of the future generations from the most basic principles of the Jewish faith" and "a weakening affinity of the Jewish youth in the Diaspora to Israel" are two of the most "silent [and] covert concerns" facing the Diaspora. The GA is meeting under the banner of "One People - One Destination."

"There are those of us here today who remember first hand when the State of Israel was the 'project of the Jewish people.' Jewish communities around the world joined hands, with all their heart and soul, to build the young state of Israel," he told the conference.
