The Israel Police declared on Monday that it would be going on its highest state of alert for 48 hours, ahead of the municipal elections scheduled to take place on Tuesday. About 10,000 officers will be stationed in polling places across the country.

The Magen David Adom (Red Star of David) emergency service will go on its next to highest alert at 7:00 Tuesday morning in conjunction with the police alert status.
