A British TV production company has backtracked on its invitation to Holocaust denier David Irving, following public protests.
Irving wrote on his website that he received a "top secret provisional invitation" to join a TV series by the Endemol TV company on January 2.
The London Jewish Chronicle reports that Endemol was condemned by the Director of the Holocaust Center in Nottingham, Stephen Smith, who said that "to even consider such an invitation demands a full explanation."
The Chronicle itself asked, "Does this indicate a disturbing level of ignorance in the media about one of the vilest forms of anti-Semitism, or is Irving now a mainstream public figure by virtue, not in spite, of his notoriety?"
