The National Counter-terrorism Headquarters has issued a specific warning for Israelis to avoid the Sinai Peninsula during the upcoming holiday travel season. Similar warnings have been issued in the past because of activities targetting Egyptian authorities as well as Israelis. The holiday alert also warns about travel to Thailand, Turkey, the Philippines and Uzbekistan.
The warning accompanies one issued for Israelis worldwide to be wary because of Hizbullah plans to attempt to abduct Israelis in revenge for the death of arch-terrorist Imad Mughniyeh in a car bombing in Damascus. While evidence points to Mughniyeh being the victim of a power struggle in Syria, the Lebanese terror organization blames Israel.
Two Hizbullah attempts to target Israelis were reportedly foiled earlier this week in uknown locations. Hizbullah was also discovered tracking the whereabouts of El Al crews in Toronto.
