The G-7 organization of the world's industrial nations has censured Russia for its invasion of the Caucacus nation of Georgia. The move is another indication of the increasing alienation of Russia from the western European bloc of nations that also comprise the North American Treaty Organization (NATO) group of nations.

The Group of Seven, as the organization of nations comprised of the United States, Britain, France, Canada, Germany, Japan and Italy is called, issued a joint statement late Wednesday calling Russia's recognition of the Georgian breakaway provinces of South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent nations, a violation of Georgia's territorial integrity. Georgia is an ally of the United States.
