Large Jewish Graveyard Discovered near Warsaw

Road construction workers 60 miles south of Warsaw have discovered a large Jewish graveyard with well-preserved tombstones, European Jewish Press reported. The cemetery is the largest to be uncovered in decades.

Nazis frequently used Jewish tombstones to pave roads, which may explain why the tombstones were underground. The graveyard is located in the city of Radom, where Jews fled in 1944, many of them joining Partisan units in nearby forests and participating in the Warsaw Ghetto uprising against the Nazis.
