Police Presence at Beaches Intensified after Murder

Police spokesmen say that police presence at Tel Aviv-area beaches and ports will be intensified, after 31-year-old Margarita Lautin was killed in a Bat Yam beach Monday by a stray bullet fired in an apparent underworld assassination attempt.

Lautin, one of several recent innocent victims of botched mafia assassinations, was shot dead in front of her husband and two children.

The shooting, which took place across the street from a police station, was witnessed by a police officer, and prompted the Tel Aviv District Police to expand the number of officers in the area, including mounted patrols.
