Uzi Dayan Says He Joined Likud without Conditions

Former assistant IDF Chief of Staff Uzi Dayan said Monday he has joined the Likud party without any pre-conditions concerning a promised ministerial position or a reserved place on the party's list of Knesset candidates. Dayan has campaigned in the past for a clean government, free from corruption.

He explained at a press conference with Likud chairman Binyamin (Bibi) Netanyahu that he joined the Likud because it is the only party that reflects his goals of returning kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit and carrying out policies that are for the good of the country.

He denied charges that he refused a proposal to join the Labor party after it rejected alleged demands.
