Palestinian Authority Chairman and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas met with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Sunday in Cairo about a number of different issues.
The two discussed Israel's ongoing efforts to win the release of kidnapped IDF Cpl. Gilad Shalit, who has been held by the Hamas terrorists who abducted him in a cross-border raid from Gaza on June 25, 2006. Egyptian officials are involved in brokering talks for a prisoner swap to free Shalit, whose whereabouts and condition are still unknown.
