Dutch survivors of the Nazi Holocaust are seeking reparations payments from having to hide from their German pursuers during the occupation of the Netherlands. In addition, those who were forced to live in the Amsterdam Ghetto have joined the call for compensation from the German government for their suffering.
The German government has said it does not believe Dutch Jews deserve compensation for having to live in hiding during the war. The issue will be discussed, said Orly Joseph, a spokeswoman for the Conference on Jewish Material Claims against Germany, at its annual negotiation with Germany.
