Jerusalem Municipality Manager Yair Maayan said Wednesday that following the latest bulldozer terrorist attacks, the municipality looked into the possibility of mandating criminal and security background checks for drivers of heavy construction machinery, but was told this would be impossible under the current law.

The police therefore decided that it would carry out painstaking checks in the numerous construction sites in Jerusalem, and to find out details of each machine operator's identity and past.
