      Mazuz, Lador: "We Are Satisfied"

Attorney General Menachem Mazuz and State Prosecutor Moshe Lador released a joint statement to the media Sunday following the government's decision to entrust the investigation of the Ramon wiretaps to the State Comptroller.

"We express our satisfaction with the fact that after we presented our position and after a debate, most government ministers reached the conclusion that it would be wrong to accept the Minister of Justice's request" to establish a committee of inquiry, they wrote. They explained that they have no objection to a general inquiry into wiretaps, and only opposed an inquiry that centered on the Ramon case.

"We wish to add that the State Comptroller is authorized to look into this issue anyhow, and that he did indeed look into it several years ago," they added.
