Ramon: "'Deep Throat' is Trembling with Fear"

Vice Prime Minister Chaim Ramon said at the government debate Sunday that "the 'deep throat' who told me about the wiretaps is trembling with fear." He was referring to the person within the law enforcement community who informed him that the police and prosecution had carried out illegal wiretaps in the investigation against him.

"The person who is guilty of a conflict of interests here is [Attorney General] Meni Mazuz and so is the government session that selected the State Prosecutor," Ramon said.

"Deep Throat" was the nickname for the main anonymous source of leaks in the Washington Post's investigative reports on the Watergate scandal in the 1970s.
