(IsraelNN.com) The head of the IDF Manpower Planning and Management Section, Col. Ziki Sela, displayed alarming data regarding 2008 IDF enlistment. According to him, only 52 percent of Israeli youth eligible get drafted, and within that 16 percent leave in the first year of their three year service. In addition, 43 percent of all women eligible for the draft do not serve.

Col. Sela noted the importance of nationwide enlistment, saying “Enlistment for Everybody is a powerful  and necessary component for Israel’s continued existence…The State of Israel must continue to support those who serve her and those who volunteer for national service.”
