More than 45,000 people took part in Britain’s Salute to Israel parade to celebrate Israel’s 60th anniversary. The trip, which mirrors similar events in major Jewish cities around the world like New York and Sao Paolo, was brought to the UK by the Zionist Federation and Israel’s Embassy in London. The parade moved through central London from Piccadilly to Trafalgar Square and included decorated floats, bands, and other vehicles.
Guests of honor for the event included Israeli Minister of Diaspora Affairs Yitzhak Herzog (Kadima), British Education Minister Ed Balls, and England’s Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks.
