Egyptian security officials reported to Agence France Presse that they will open the Egyptian side of the border with Gaza for two days starting Tuesday."Egypt has decided to open the crossing for two days from Tuesday to allow through Palestinians from the Gaza Strip who have residence permits and visas as well as students and ill people," the official said, asking not to be identified. Previously, on June 18, Egypt opened its Gaza border one way for one day to allow Arabs to return to the terrorist-controlled area.
As part of the ongoing Egyptian mediated negotiations, Hamas has been requesting the re-opening of the Rafiach border crossing, which is the only one not under Israel’s security purview from Gaza. In January 2008, Gazan Arabs blew open large sections of the Rafiach border fence, sending hundreds of thousands pouring in to stock up on basic goods before it was resealed by Egypt a few days later.
