A top Hamas representative in the "Palestinian Parliament," Ahmed Bakr, said Sunday that Hamas would cease recognizing Mahmoud Abbas as PA chairman after January 9, 2009.

He was reacting to a decision by a special PA legal forum which announced that Abbas's tenure would only end in January 2010, at the same time that the term of the PA "parliament" ends.

Bakr said Abbas was only chosen for a four year term.
