Nearly 300 Anglican bishops are meeting in Jerusalem this week for a conference that noted sharp criticism of its Anglican leader for not disciplining the American Episcopal Church for consecrating an admitted homosexual bishop. "The aim of the conference is to revamp the spirit of the Anglican faith. Jerusalem was chosen because it has something to do with the roots of the Anglican faith," said church spokesman Grace Mugabe.
The conference precedes next month's Lambeth conference in Jerusalem, which conservative Anglicans accuse of re-writing the Bible. Several bishops at this week's conference have vowed to boycott the Lambeth meeting in order "not to mingle with sympathizers of homosexuals."
