Army soldiers Monday night killed two Islamic Jihad and Hamas terrorists near Jenin during an attempt to arrest them. It was the first counterterrorist action in Judea and Samaria that required the use of weapons since the Gaza temporary ceasefire went into effect last Thursday.
Islamic Jihad has warned that it would consider IDF actions in Judea and Samaria as violations of the ceasefire even though the agreement covers only the Gaza region, with the possibility of its being extended to Judea and Samaria after several months.
The IDF arrested eight terrorists overnight, one in Jenin, five in or near Bethlehem and two north of Kiryat Arba/Hevron.
