Foreign Ministry Transfers Funds for German Tourism

The Foreign Ministry has transferred 10 million shekels ($2.9 million) to the Tourism Ministry for a new campaign to encourage Germans and other Europeans to visit Israel. The campaign will be launched in the summer and will continue through early next year.

Director General of the Ministry of Tourism Shaul Tzemach recently requested the additional budget because of the continued weakness of the dollar and attempts to increase tourist traffic from countries other than the United States, which is the largest country of origin for incoming tourism.
