The Knesset passed in preliminary reading Wednesday a law that would stiffen punishment of people who attack medical doctors.

The law, presented by MKs Chaim Oron (Meretz) and Yoel Hasson (Kadima) would set a minimum sentence of six months' imprisonment for such offenses and raise the maximum sentence to six years' jail time.
