The Leon Charney School of Marine Sciences was inaugurated this evening in a ceremony at the University of Haifa. The school will be the first of its kind in Israel. The school's research and teaching will cover a wide range of marine-related subjects including geo-marine sciences, marine civilizations, and marine biology.
The establishment of the school was enabled by an $8 million donation by American businessman Mr. Leon Charney, Chairman of the Board of Governors for the University of Haifa.
