      Soldier Marches Against Olmert Corruption

Twenty-one-year-old Amotz Eyal was released from the IDF on Thursday after three years of combat service—and immediately began a one-man protest march on the Prime Minister’s house. Eyal, who began his march from the Tel HaShomer army base, explained, “As someone who marched 90 kilometers to get an IDF beret, I’m ready to march another 60 kilometers as a civilian to fight for a country free of corruption.”

When he reaches the home of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Eyal said, he plans to hand him a letter calling on him to take responsibility for his actions and resign. “A good commander who wishes to lead his soldiers to victory in battle must be worthy to do so, and must be esteemed and have the soldiers’ trust,” his letter says in part. “You lost the public’s trust, and you are no longer worthy to lead the people and the state.”
