Likud Knesset Member Silvan Shalom, a former Foreign Minister, challenged Prime Minister Ehud Olmert Monday to prove his claim that four former Prime Ministers promised to surrender significant parts of the Golan Heights to Syria. Prime Minister Olmert made the statement to the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

MK Shalom added, "Negotiations with Syria may be a correct step, if Syria really wants peace, but so long as it does not break off from the Iranian axis, all talks are insignificant."
