International media mogul Rupert Murdoch told participants at the 2008 Presidential conference, Facing Tomorrow", that he is convinced that helping people develop their professional skills will bring peace to the region.
"When people have the skills to build better lives for themselves and their families, their societies become more peaceful... We'll continue to do what we can to help Israel maintain its competitive edge," he promised. "Yet we must also look for new ways to expand human capital throughout the Middle East." Murdoch added that in many oil-rich countries in the region, talented and hard-working individuals are nonetheless still on the fringes of society.
"We can change that," he said. Murdoch was joined on the panel with fellow media tycoons Sergei Brin, founder of Google, Yahoo! president Susan Decker. The star-studded three-day conference ends Thursday.
