Arabs Pelt Army Soldiers with Rocks at 'Nakba' Protest

(IsraelNN.com) More than 200 Arabs are pelting army soldiers with rocks and stones at this hour at a protest at the Kalandia checkpoint near Ramallah. They are marking the "Nakba," the Arabic word for "catastrophe," which is their description of the re-establishment of the State of Israel. Soldiers are responding with tear gas.

The protest coincides with the Gregorian calendar date of David Ben Gurion's proclamation of the new nation in 1948 after British troops departed.
