Indictments were handed down in the Jerusalem District Court against four terrorists connected to the cell that assassinated Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze’evi. The four are facing charges ranging from murder to attempted murder pertaining to the 2001 assassination of the minister in a Jerusalem hotel.
Col. Yoram Lax, head of an IDF naval base in Ashdod, said the seizure of a ton of explosives from boats bound for Gaza contained enough material to arm 100 suicide bombers and dozens of Kassam rockets. The vessel and the terrorists smugglers evaded capture when navy forces hesitated to open fire out of fear of harming nearby Arab fishing boats.
