The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has filed charges in the Magistrates' Court of Beer Sheva against a person who did not take a sick cow to slaughter. The man, Eeron Uzan of Gilat, was charged with cruelty to an animal and transportation of an injured and sick animal.

The cow suffered severe complications while trying giving birth to a calf. The veterinarian who had tended to the cow during the failed calving instructed the farmer to take the cow to slaughter urgently. However, the farmer waited another two days before taking the cow to slaughter because the price he had been offered for it was too low in his judgment.

When a suitable buyer was found, the owner led the cow to him, despite the fact that it was sick and in pain. This contradicts Israeli laws and bylaws, which only allow transporting a cow in that condition if it is being led to slaughter.
