(IsraelNN.com) Five Israeli youth from Bet El departed for a hike to the nearby Jewish town of Ofra Friday afternoon, when several Arab terrorists opened fire at them near Ein Yabrud, north of Jerusalem.

Amongst the group of hikers were several soldiers on leave. One terrorist was killed from the return fire, and the other terrorists fled. The IDF combed the area and apprehended one other terrorist from the cell. The IDF confiscated two assault rifles and one pistol.

One of the hikers told Israel National News what happened: "We were hiking on the path when we saw 5 Arabs approaching us from a distance. One of our group was able to see through his high-powered sights that the Arabs were armed with assault rifles. Several of us looked through the sights to make sure that they had guns. We shouted at them for a long time to halt, but they ignored our calls. One of us shot in the air, at which point 3 of the Arabs, apparently unarmed, fled. The other two terrorists immediately opened fire at us. We returned fire hitting one. The other fled."

The Israeli youth sustained no injuries.
